Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-05-11

MenkyoQuest (hereinafter “the Service,” domain: menkyoquest.com) is a web application that provides study support for the Japanese driver's license written test. This policy discloses how the Service handles information related to your privacy.

1. Information We Collect

1-1. Server-side information

The Service is hosted on the platform of Vercel Inc. (USA). When you access the Service, Vercel's systems may temporarily record access logs (IP address, User-Agent, request URL, timestamps, etc.) for operational purposes. These are handled in accordance with Vercel's privacy policy (vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy).

The operator of the Service does not own a separate server or database, and does not actively collect personal information from users.

1-2. Information stored on your device (localStorage)

The Service stores the following information in your web browser's localStorage. This information is never sent to a server — it stays only on your device.

  • App settings: visual theme, animation, sound effects, questions-per-session
  • Study progress: per-chapter correct/wrong answers, answer timestamps, streak counter, etc.
  • Whether the onboarding modal has been shown

These items are used solely to preserve your experience on the Service. You can delete them at any time from your web browser settings.

2. Third-Party Services Used

2-1. Google Fonts

The Service uses Google Fonts (provided by Google LLC) to render its typefaces. Your web browser will, while browsing, make requests to fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com, and Google may log information such as your IP address. For details, see Google's Privacy Policy.

2-2. Web Share API

When you use the share feature, content is delivered to the destination application (SNS, messaging apps, etc.) via your OS's standard share sheet. The Service does not receive information about which destination you chose or the final content sent.

3. Advertising

Advertising on the Service is shown only on the Japanese-language site (menkyoquest.com/ without a locale prefix). The English-language version (menkyoquest.com/en) does not display affiliate advertising at this time.

For users on the Japanese version, the Service participates in A8.net affiliate programs. Each ad placement is labeled “PR · 広告” in compliance with Japan's stealth-marketing regulation (Premium Display and Misleading Representations Act, Article 5, Paragraph 3, effective 2023-10-01). Current partner programs (Japanese version only):

  • U-I Menkyo (16-0106) — driving-camp license booking
  • Gasshuku Menkyo Uketsuke Center (11-0112)
  • Teigaku Nikonori Pack / Kabushiki-kaisha MIC (21-0519) — car leasing

When you click an affiliate ad, a measurement cookie may be set via px.a8.net, operated by A8.net (Fun Communications, Inc.). See A8.net's Privacy Policy for details. All transactions with advertisers take place on the destination site, and the operator of the Service does not obtain your personal information.

If we introduce additional ad networks (e.g. Google AdSense) in the future, this policy will be updated to disclose them.

4. Analytics

The Service uses Vercel Web Analytics, provided by our hosting platform Vercel Inc.

Vercel Web Analytics does not use cookies and does not collect personally identifying information. It generates an anonymous hash (reset daily) from your IP address and User-Agent, and only aggregates page views, referrers, and approximate region (Vercel states compliance with GDPR / PECR).

For details, see Vercel Web Analytics Privacy & Compliance. The Service does not use Google Analytics or any other third-party analytics tool.

5. Cookies

The Service itself does not issue its own cookies. However, the third-party services described in Section 2 (e.g. Google Fonts) may use cookies, and those are handled in accordance with each service's privacy policy.

6. Notes on Content

6-1. Source of questions

The practice questions and explanations on the Service are AI-generated and edited, based on the National Public Safety Commission's published “Rules of the Road” (an official publication that is not subject to copyright under Article 13(2) of Japan's Copyright Act).

6-2. No guarantee of passing

The Service is a study aid. It does not guarantee that you will pass the Japanese driver's license written test. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, consult the official Rules of the Road and your local driver's-license examination center or designated driving school.

6-3. Content updates

The Service's content may change without notice. We aim to follow legal amendments and revisions to the Rules of the Road as soon as reasonably possible.

7. Disclaimer

The operator of the Service is not liable for any direct or indirect damages arising from use or inability to use the Service. Any consequences from referring to the Service's content are at your own responsibility.

8. Changes to This Policy

This policy may be changed without prior notice as needed. Any changes take effect at the time they are posted on this page.

9. Contact
