Terms of Use

Last updated: 2026-05-12

These are the Terms of Use for MenkyoQuest (the “Service”, domain: menkyoquest.com). Please read before using the Service.

1. Content Copyright Ownership

Unless otherwise stated, the copyright for question text, explanations, UI design, pixel-art assets, and code provided by the Service (the “Content”) belongs to the MenkyoQuest editorial team.

However, the following items have different rights status:

  • The National Police Agency’s “Rules of the Road” (a National Public Safety Commission notification) is not subject to copyright under Article 13(2) of the Japanese Copyright Act (see About §2)
  • The Road Traffic Act, its Enforcement Order, and its Enforcement Regulations are laws, not subject to copyright under Article 13(1) of the Copyright Act
  • Road-sign SVGs: derivative works based on the standard forms of the Road Sign Order (告示), not subject to copyright; or sourced from Wikimedia Commons under PD-Japan-exempt
  • Mascot images: generated by the editorial team using ComfyUI + Animagine XL + Pixel Art LoRA (copyright held by the editorial team)

Third-party reference policy: our questions and explanations are grounded exclusively in the Rules of the Road (PD) and the Road Traffic Act (PD). We do not reference, copy from, or paraphrase third-party practice-question collections (Lease Japan, Road Ready / Ziplus, JAF practice quizzes, JapanDL, GitHub-hosted question banks, etc.). See About §2 for the full editorial policy.

2. AI-Assisted Content Authorship

The Service’s explanations are produced by a human-in-the-loop pipeline: the editorial team has Anthropic’s Claude draft an initial explanation grounded in the source material, then reviews and edits each one.

The final explanations are © the MenkyoQuest editorial team. Anthropic’s Claude is used as a drafting tool under our editorial review; Anthropic does not hold copyright in the output (per Anthropic’s commercial Terms of Service, the user retains rights in outputs they generate). See About §3 for details of the AI process.

3. Permitted Use (Personal Study)

The Content may be used freely for personal study purposes (viewing, screenshotting, quoting, sharing on social media, etc.). Commercial use (republication, publishing, classroom adoption, incorporation into paid services, etc.) requires separate written permission.

4. Disclaimer

The Service does not guarantee that you will pass the written test, nor is it the sole authoritative source for traffic law. For the most current and official information, please consult the National Police Agency’s official Rules of the Road PDF (www.npa.go.jp) and the guidance posted at your prefectural driver’s license center.

The editorial team is not liable for damages arising from use of the Service. For issues encountered after clicking through an affiliate ad, please contact the destination merchant directly (see Privacy Policy §3).

5. Governing Law

These Terms are interpreted under the laws of Japan.
