On-site interpreter availability is not stated.
The official Hiroshima Police foreign-license-conversion page does not list fee amounts (it refers to a separate fee schedule). Exact conversion fees could not be verified against an official source, so no figures are asserted here.
Reservation is mandatory and by phone only; the booking line operates a narrow daily window (Mon-Fri 14:00-16:00) and accepts bookings only from ~1 week ahead to the end of the next month. Applications are accepted at two centers (Saeki Ward main center and Fukuyama Eastern center). Eligibility requires a valid foreign license plus cumulative 3+ months of residence in the issuing country after license issuance. International Driving Permits are not eligible for conversion. Country-specific extra documents are required (e.g., Chinese ID, Philippine official receipt, Brazilian CPF). Note: from 1 October 2025 the knowledge test was changed (illustration questions removed; 50 written questions) and a resident registry copy is required.
We could not confirm the following from primary sources. Please check the official page before relying on them:
- Exact fee amounts (the previously cited 2,400 / 1,100 / 1,750 yen came from a third-party search summary and are not on the official fee/conversion page)
- On-site application reception hours (the previously claimed AM 8:30-9:00 / PM 13:00-13:30 window was not found on any fetched official source)
- Whether on-site interpreters are provided (only multilingual knowledge-test versions are confirmed)
- Specific access/transit details for the Eastern (Fukuyama) center
- Whether a separate reservation phone number applies to the Eastern center (confirmed only that the same HQ number 082-228-0110 is used via extension)
Always verify on the prefectural police's official page before you go — addresses, reservation methods, and document requirements change frequently.
