FAQ
What happens if I'm late to reception?
In principle, you will not be allowed to take that session. Each examination center has fixed morning and afternoon reception windows, so confirm the time and location in advance.
Do I need glasses?
If you need them to meet the vision requirements, bring and wear them. If you meet the standard with glasses or contacts, your license will carry a "corrective lenses" condition.
Will I receive my license the same day if I pass?
Most examination centers issue licenses the same day, but issuance times and required lectures vary by center. Check your prefecture's guidance in advance.
Can I get a license if my vision is weak?
For an ordinary license, you need 0.7 or better with both eyes and 0.3 or better in each eye (if one eye is below 0.3, the other must be 0.7 or better and your field of vision at least 150 degrees). Glasses and contacts are fine; if you meet the standard with them, you will receive a license with a "corrective lenses" condition.
